MMDA 2011 Annul Meeting Abstract Submission Instructions

Content of the poster may present a review of literature, a case presentation with scholarly discussion, or actual research and findings related to the long term care setting. Also, the poster may present findings related to any clinical or administrative aspect of issues related to long term care.  MMDA hopes to have to 3 posters for presentation and entry into a judged competition to receive the "Best Poster Award 2011".  The winner and 1st runner-up will have the distinction of being the first recipients of these awards at an MMDA meeting.

Please review the following information and abstract submission form in its entirety.  MMDA prefers to accept abstracts for posters submitted using this online submission system, but we will also accept abstracts submitted via fax to 410-975-4625 or email to mmdawebsite@gmail.com. You will need to gather all required information to have with you to complete the abstract form before beginning your submission.  It is not possible to come back to the abstract form.  Please make sure to set aside enough time to complete the full application in one session.  If you do not complete all required fields in your session, you would need to start over and submit your abstract from scratch.  Please do not submit a proposal unless you can be available to present the day of the Symposium on November 12.

The following information is required in order to successfully submit a POSTER ABSTRACT:
Title, introduction/objective, design/methodology, results, conclusion/discussion, financial disclosure for each author (submitting author will be responsible for gathering this information), category and contact information for each author.

NOTIFICATION:
Primary presenters will receive notification of the status of the proposal via email. Decisions of the Program Committee are final and not subject to challenge or explanation.

CONFIRMATION:

All submitters will be asked to confirm acceptance of the Program Committee’s invitation to present within 7 days of notification. The submitter will be asked to inform any/all co-presenters of the commitment to present and to collect any additional/missing requested information such as audio-visual needs, conflict of interest/disclosure information, recording release and speaker introduction notes.

PLANNING AND MATERIAL ORGANIZATION:

From the time of confirmation until the material submission deadline, (if applicable) presenters should speak with and organize presentations with co-presenters.

MATERIAL SUBMISSION:

MMDA requires all presenters to provide a copy of the presentation, signed speaker and disclosure form.  MMDA seeks to maintain the integrity of its education programs by providing learners the educational support they need in the form of handouts (provided online) prior to the Annual Symposium and in the form of posters on the day of the meeting. Handouts and posters are a reflection of you, the presenters, and of MMDA as a CME and CMD provider.  Moreover, MMDA is under obligation to identify and manage all potential conflicts of interest.  Reviewing material to be presented prior to presentation is a part of that process.  The Program Committee reserves the right to cancel any session, presentation or poster given by an author/presenter who has not complied with this request.

CHANGES:

If a submission is accepted and changes are made either to the content or to the speakers, the changes must be reviewed by the Program Committee and may be subject to cancellation.  If changes are made to the PowerPoint slide presentation(s), poster and/or handouts after the material submission deadline, a copy of the updated material should be provided to MMDA for its files.  Presenters will be responsible for informing attendees that changes were made and that their handouts may be out of date.

SPEAKER COMPENSATION:

In appreciation of your time and expertise, MMDA will provide each speaker or poster presenter a complimentary registration.  All travel, lodging and additional expenses are each presenter's responsibility.  In accordance with ACCME and MMDA policies, it is inappropriate for presenters to seek funding from alliances with industry in support of expenses to attend the symposium.  If MMDA receives funding or support for any educational sessions, no additional compensation will be provided and the above reimbursement policy still applies.
